一、effect用作名詞
1. effect表示“對(duì)……的影響”,其后通常接介詞 on, upon。如:
The film had quite an effect on her. 這影片對(duì)她影響極大。
Her speech has produced little effect on the listeners. 她的演講沒對(duì)聽眾產(chǎn)生什么影響。
It had an almost immediate effect on his thinking. 這對(duì)他的思想立即產(chǎn)生影響。
It had had such a bad effect upon him. 它對(duì)他有很大的不良影響。
His satire had no effect on her. 他的諷刺對(duì)她沒有影響。
2. 注意以下各句的effect搭配:
The plan has been carried [put, brought] into effect. 這項(xiàng)計(jì)劃業(yè)已實(shí)行。
All our efforts were of no effect. 我們的一切努力都毫無作用。
The new law will take effect next May. 這項(xiàng)新的法律將于明年五月生效。zn
In effect he has no choice. 實(shí)際上他沒有選擇余地。
二、effect用作動(dòng)詞
effect也可以用作動(dòng)詞,表示“實(shí)現(xiàn)”,“進(jìn)行”。如:
Rose tried to effect a reconciliation. 羅斯試圖進(jìn)行和解。
We hope to effect an improvement. 我們希望取得改進(jìn)。
They effected a revolution in the country. 他們?cè)谶@個(gè)國(guó)家進(jìn)行了革命。
注意,用作動(dòng)詞的effect并不表示“影響”,同時(shí)注意它與動(dòng)詞affect的不同:
This affected his attitude. 這影響了他的態(tài)度。
Smoking affects health. 吸煙影響身體。
The amount of rain affects the growth of crops. 雨量影響莊稼的生長(zhǎng)。
