A: This is where you live? In this dark, old apartment, with old furnitureand no pictures on the walls?

B: I know. It is a little drab. But it’s cheap, and I can fix it up a little bit each week.

A: 這就是你住的地方？房子又黑又舊，家具也很陳舊，墻上連幅畫也沒(méi)有。

B: 這我知道。是單調(diào)了點(diǎn)，不過(guò)很便宜，而且可以每周修整一點(diǎn)。

B: Can’t you think of something new to say? That hackneyedold expression doesn’t even mean anything anymore!

A: 患難見(jiàn)真情。

B: 能說(shuō)點(diǎn)新鮮的嗎？那種被用濫的落俗套的話現(xiàn)在已經(jīng)沒(méi)有任何意義了。

apartment:公寓。

drab: 單調(diào)乏味的；無(wú)生氣的；死氣沉沉的。

fix up: 修繕。

hackneyed:指語(yǔ)言陳腐的；老一套的。
