首先我們來看China Daily中的一段描述：

The "mouse tribe", orshuzuin Mandarin, is a large population of mainly migrant workers that live in cramped conditions deep underground.They are thought to number about one million living in some of the 1,374 civil air defence shelters beneath the city.

從上句中我們可以看到，“鼠族”的英語是“mouse tribe”，指的就是靠租地下室來生活的一群人，他們大多像老鼠一樣生活在地下。因為收入不高，又為了在大城市生活，無奈之下只能待在地下室。

近年來，關于住房方面的新詞著實是出現了不少，除了我們在上文中提到的“蝸居(Dwelling Narrowness)”，“蟻族”(ant tribe)外，還有大家挖空心思自制的各種“膠囊公寓”(Capsule Apartment)，甚至“蛋屋”(sustainable egg-shaped house)等。今后不知道還會出現哪種新式房屋呢。
