A : What’s the bonus like at your company ?

B : Well , it’s OK , I suppose . We get about the equivalent of six months’ salary .

A : Six months’ salary ? Are you serious ? That’s incredible!

B : Maybe. But you’d be amazed at how little’s left after the credit companies have deducted their share from my account .

A : Hey , I know what that’s like . I bought a BMW on my Visa card . Now the payments really hurt .

B : Well, you’re lucky that you’re still able to make your payments . I missed a credit payment last month . Now my bank account’s overdrawn , and the company is threatening to take back my purchases.

A : What did you buy ?

B : A new home health monitor .

A : Health Monitor?I read an article about that racket . They’re overpriced to begin with ! Listen : if I were you , I’d let them take back their monitor and spend my money on something more practical .

B : You’re kidding !

A : No joke!

B : That’s something else ! Maybe I’ll return it to them .

A :Did you bring some lunch with you ?

B : Yes , I packed it myself .

A : Wow, that looks beautiful.

B : It’s my “health-conscious” lunch , good for my health and beauty .

A : I might try it myself .

A : Miss Yang is dating the manager who’s married .

B : You’re joking !

A : No joke ! That’s why she hasn’t married yet .

B : He’s buying me a handbag, and then dinner at a gorgeous restaurant.

A : You got a big return for a small gift.

B : I’d rather quit my job .

B : I admire her achievements , but that doesn’t mean that I’d like to vote for her .

B : Mrs.Smith is like a robot , she doesn’t give us any slack .

A : Just because of this , you got a prize last month .

B : It’s undervalued .

B : Oh yes !Sometimes it rains very heavily . How about here in Beijing?

A : There’s a lot of rain in summer. But it seldom rains in Autumn.

B : I feet it’s rather dry here .

A : That’s true . Many people from the south don’t like the weather here .

B : Are you from the south?

A : No , I’m from the north . I was born in Beijing , actually .

B : I see , So this is your hometown .

A : That’s tight .

B : Know what ? Aren’t you going to tell me ?

A : According to the newspaper , Sally has quit her job .

B : Why was she working anyway ? She’s rich .

A : She wanted something to do , I guess .

B : With all that money , she ought to have people working for her.
