Beijing’s central heating is likely to be switched on early this winter, when the average temperature plunges below 5 C for five days consecutively or when a heavy snowfall or high wind hits the city。

如果平均氣溫連續(xù)5天低于5攝氏度，或遭遇暴雪、強(qiáng)風(fēng)天氣，北京市就將提前啟動集中供暖。

文中的central heating就是指“集中供暖”，“供暖”也稱為heating supply，提供central heating的這段時(shí)間也就是heating season(供熱時(shí)期、供暖季)。為保證這段期間的燃料供應(yīng)，北京還在周邊地區(qū)建立了contingency reserve base of coal(煤炭應(yīng)急儲備基地)。這也打消了大家對于extremely cold winter(極寒)的顧慮。

為了滿足不同用戶的需求，北京一些小區(qū)還推行了household heating(分戶供暖)，對用戶實(shí)際的使用情況進(jìn)行計(jì)量收費(fèi)，所采取的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)就是household-based heat metering(分戶熱計(jì)量)。
