1. 序數詞前冠詞的使用問題

強調順序時用定冠詞;當不強調順序，而是表示“又，還，再”時用不定冠詞。如：

I like the third girl.

我喜歡第三個女孩。(至少有三個女孩供選擇，特指)

I saw a third girl.

我又看見了第三個女孩。(暗示原來已看見兩個，這已是第三個)

2. school, bed等前面冠詞的使用問題

像bed, table, class, school, college, church, prison等名詞，在指這些家具、建筑或場所本身時用冠詞，但若抽象地指它們所具有的作用或功能時，則不用冠詞。如：

School is over at twelve.

12點放學。

The school is beautiful.

這所學校很美。

3. 物質名詞前冠詞的使用問題

原則上不用冠詞，但若特指，則用定冠詞。如：

Water boils at 100℃.

水在攝氏100度沸騰。

Feel the water and see how warm it is.

摸摸水，看有多熱。

注：不定冠詞可在coffee, tea, beer, drink等物質名詞前表示“一杯 / 罐 / 瓶”。如：

I don’t drink coffee very often.

我不常喝咖啡。

Bring me a coffee.

給我一杯咖啡。
