There is an Indian story about a bar of candy that came to see God in Heaven and complained: "Dear God, I am so sweet. I am so nice! I keep the Five Precepts. I meditate all the time." The sugar candy, as you know, it always sits on the table doing nothing. He says he never does harm to anyone. "But anyone, even the ants, the flies -- anyone who comes near me wants to eat me. Why? What have I done? Doesn’t the law of karma exist anymore?" Because God says that if you do something bad, if you harm someone, if you are sour, then people will return sourness to you. But if you are sweet to people, if you are nice and you don’t do any harm to people, then they will never harm you, right?

有一個(gè)印度故事，是講一顆糖果去天堂見上帝，它跟上帝抱怨說：「親愛的上帝，我那么甜、那么好，不但遵守五戒，又一直都在打坐。」是啊!糖果一向都「坐」在桌上，無所事事。它說它從不曾傷害過任何人。「不過每個(gè)人一靠近我，就想把我吃掉，連螞蟻、蒼蠅也不例外，為什么?我犯了什么錯(cuò)?難道因果法律已經(jīng)蕩然無存了嗎?」因?yàn)樯系壅f過，假如你做壞事、傷害別人、對(duì)人不好，那么別人也會(huì)對(duì)你不好。但如果你對(duì)別人好，又不傷害任何人，人家就不會(huì)傷害你，對(duì)嗎?

So the candy said, "Why me? I am a candy. (Laughter) I am so sweet, and people always eat me and abuse me, why?" And God said, "You better step a little bit further before I answer you." And the candy said, "Why, you don’t like me?" So God said, "Just do it! Stand away, please!" Hes nearly lost Hiers temper. Oh, Hes shouted very hard, very loud. And the sugar was shaking, thinking that God got angry with him and didn’t like him. He said, "M-m-m-y G-g-god, but what did I do?" So God said, "You didn’t do anything, but if you stay too near, I will also want to eat you!" (Laughter and applause)

所以糖果說：「為什么我不同呢?我是一顆糖果(大眾笑)，這么甜，而人們卻一直想吃我、虐待我，為什么?」上帝說：「你最好站遠(yuǎn)一點(diǎn)，我才回答你。」糖果說：「為什么?您不喜歡我嗎?」上帝說：「只管照著做，站遠(yuǎn)一點(diǎn)，拜托!」上帝快要發(fā)脾氣了，喊得很用力、很大聲。糖果在發(fā)抖，它以為上帝在生氣它，不喜歡它。它說：「老…天…啊!我做錯(cuò)了什么呢?」上帝告訴它：「你沒做錯(cuò)什么，只不過你如果站得太靠近的話，連我也想把你吃掉。」(大眾笑及鼓掌)

Everything in this world has a nature of its own. Some are charming, some are seducing, like the candy, chocolate, the cakes, and some burn everything like fire, as soon as you get near.

天地萬物各有其本質(zhì)，有些東西很有吸引力、很誘人，像糖果、巧克力、蛋糕等;有些則像火一樣，任何東西一靠近就會(huì)被它燒掉。
